RROs have traditionally been APK packages that need to be installed on the gadget before they can be activated, but Android 12 should be capable of generate non-APK RROs on-the-fly. It’ll be interesting to see how that is used, but we’re guessing it will open up the power to generate plenty of custom themes that don’t need to be installed as system-level apps. We already had a fair idea of what to expect with Android 12 even earlier than Android 12 Developer Preview 1 made its way into our hands. But OS growth is a posh cycle, and what’s usually leaked may or could not make it again into the release. We’re nonetheless in the beta days of Android 12, so there’s a chance a good few of those leaked changes will make their means into the steady launch eventually — or they may not.
Android comes preinstalled on a few laptops (a similar functionality of working Android functions can be obtainable in Google’s Chrome OS) and may also be put in on personal computer systems by end users.
